The original Woodhaven Mall 4 Theatre seated 1,200, with 300 in each auditorium. The theatre also had Bright Red and Gold in the Wall coverings and the carpets when first opened.

Hate to burst “film” fans bubbles, but the Woodhaven is now all Digital projection.

I tried to see Star Wars here in 1977. The theater was jammed and I stared at a package next to a woman till she moved it and I grabbed the seat. My brother got a seat somewhere else far away. Then I noticed that my mother couldn’t find a single seat. She was heading out to the car to wait for us for two hours. I felt too guilty at the idea of that, so I got my brother and we left with her. To this day, I’ve never seen Star Wars. Well, except for the first five minutes.

We did the same thing last summer at the AMC Mountainside 10 in New Jersey. I thought it was weird that they would cklose half the complex during the summer.

The AMC Woodhaven 10 is in the process of receiving recliners and is slated to receive a “MacGuffin’s” bar

From what I can gather from old pictures, the AMC Woodhaven 4 was a in the space that is now the Pet Store right next to, and butting up to Home Depot. The AMC 10 appears to be an altogether new build, separate from the 4-plex.

And then if you go check Google Earth/Historic Aerials you’ll see that the corner of the shopping center where the current 10-plex is was not there prior to 1995.

So I’m going to go with YEP.

Recollection and memories vs. a photo of the 4-plex being at the other end of the shopping center than the current 10-plex.

Was at the Woodhaven 10 last night for the first time since the re-model. The recliners are nice and new screens were installed in all the auditoriums, sound and projection were very good and the theater has a nice new shiny clean look and feel to it but….no more movable screen masking. You can actually see the rounded corners of the screens. 8 out of the 10 auditoriums have 2.39 to 1 screens while 2 have 1.85 to 1 screens. The ‘scope films that were being shown on those screens 1.85 to 1 screens, while being projected in the proper aspect ratio really looked crappy and like a giant letterboxed TV without even top masking. They can get away with that with Digital IMAX because the bars above and below the frame are actually black but for regular digital project it is just funky old blank screen. Bad choice AMC.
